Hazelwood Man Gets 7 Years for Role in 2011 Murder, Robbery

Jamon Spurlock pleaded guilty last September to second-degree robbery. His sentencing was May 3.

A Hazelwood man will spend the next seven years of his life in a prison cell after being sentenced on a robbery charge. Jamon Spurlock, 20, of the 7000 block of Lauphner was 18 years old when police said he and James Wilson murdered a Bel-Ridge man. Spurlock originally was charged with murder in the case, but pleaded guilty last September to second-degree robbery. Circuit Court Judge Richard C. Hazelwood Man to be Sentenced for Involvement in 2011 Murder

Jamon Spurlock pleaded guilty last September to second-degree robbery. His sentencing is today.

Jamon Spurlock, 20, of the 7000 block of Lauphner in Hazelwood was 18 years old when police said he and James Wilson murdered a Bel-Ridge man. Spurlock originally was charged with murder in the case, but pleaded guilty last September to second-degree robbery. He will go before a judge today for sentencing. City Offers Home Improvement Grants to Low Income Hazelwood Homeowners

The funds are used to assist low income homeowners with home improvements. Applicants are served on a first-come first-served basis until all funds are gone.

Hazelwood has signed on to participate in St. Louis County's annual Home Improvement Program (HIP). Hazelwood City Manager Edwin Carlstrom said this year the city will get $65,490 of federal funds, which are used to assist low income homeowners with home improvements. Hazelwood Mother Pleads Guilty to Killing Her Baby, Gets 7 Years in Prison

Brooke Maynard was sentenced to seven years in prison related to the drowning death of her infant son Roman Bell last December.

A 24-year-old woman that moved to Hazelwood from Florida last year plead guilty to reduced charges related to her infant son's death. Brooke Maynard was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and murder in the second-degree after her infant son died in the hotel room bathtub in which they were staying. Maynard pleaded guilty to reduced charges on April 18 of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Missouri Case.net.  Missouri Circuit Judge Colleen Dolan sentenced Maynard to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
