One Dead in Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-270 in Hazelwood

Northbound I-270 was closed following a multi-vehicle accident at the McDonnell Boulevard exit.

One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 270 in Hazelwood right after 10 a.m. The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes near McDonnell Blvd exit. Three cars and one commercial tractor-trailer were involved in the collision. Hazelwood Police have not revealed much but say at least one person died in the crash. The department has sent out an advisory message to residents to avoid eastbound 270 at McDonnell Blvd due to the lane closures. Hazelwood Patch went to the scene and it appears the Hazelwood Fire Department, Robertson Fire Protection District, Hazelwood Police, and Missouri State highway Patrol all responded.

UPDATE: Person Killed in Crash, Weather a Contributing Factor

The Hazelwood Police Department responds to a call of two injured in an accident.

On Jan. 10, at approximately 10:11 p.m., the Hazelwood Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on the highway, at Westbound I-270, west of McDonnell Blvd. According to Hazelwood police, upon the 0fficer's arrival both the driver and passenger complained of injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital where the passenger later died. Sgt. Don Routh, with the Hazelwood Police Department, said the incident was a single vehicle accident. He said a contributing factor for the accident was due to weather conditions. The driver hit a guard rail. Heavy snow blanketed the area Monday with at least two inches falling that night in Hazelwood. The Hazelwood Police Department said there is no further information …
