Purse Snatcher Assaults Woman on North Hanley, Vandals Break Out Window at Garrett Elementary

Here are some briefs on crimes that occurred in Hazelwood spanning from theft, to drug possession to assault.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: The Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) responded to a call at Garrett Elementary School where a window had been shattered on February 26. DRUG ARREST: What the HPD thought was a routine traffic stop resulted in the driver being arrested for being in possession of marijuana on February 26. THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT: A man was arrested after he participated in a fight with  a woman in the 12000 block of Missouri Bottom Road on February 26. SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY: HPD responded to a call in the 8700 block of Santa Bella Dr., and found that a burglar had forced entry through front door of the residence and stolen a television and X-Box video game console on February 22. Theft, drugs and domestic violence are the most common occurrences.

February 5 PROPERTY DAMAGE: A brick was thrown through a vehicle window in the 120 block of Barto Drive. IDENTITY THEFT: Police are looking for an individual that used a person's social security number in the 7400 block of Hazelcrest Drive to file taxes. February 4 SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:  A woman was arrested in the 300 block of Chez Paree Drive after a verbal disturbance escalated into the woman cutting a man's vehicle tires. It was the individual with whom she was arguing. She also assaulted the man, according to police. February 3  STEALING/PROPERTY DAMAGE: Cameras were stolen at the Midwest Petroleum located on Missouri Bottom Road. According to police, the cameras were taken after the thieves cut the security lines. …

Hazelwood Police: How are We Doing?

The survey newly featured on the City of Hazelwood's homepage asks people to give an honest opinion of how they believe the police department is doing its job.

The Hazelwood Police Department is conducting a Citizen Satisfaction Survey. The City of Hazelwood's website states that the purpose of the survey is "to improve the services to our community." If you've had interaction with the police department, now is your chance to voice your opinion and let it know how its officers and staff are doing. The survey does not ask for your name or any personal information beyond whether you are a Hazelwood resident. By the way, you don't have to be a Hazelwood resident to fill out the survey. Questions range from expressing concern about loud music to drugs and gang activity. It also ask question about whether the the police department is doing a good job and if you feel safe living, working or traveling …

Hazelwood Police Blotter: Theft A Common Theme in Recent Crime

Police also encountered a lot of wanted individuals who in turn were arrested.

OCTOBER 16 FIRST-DEGREE BURGLARY/PROPERTY DAMAGE: Hazelwood Police responded to a call in the 8400 block of Latty. Suspects were in the residence upon police arrival and were arrested, according to police. OCTOBER 15 STEALING: Hazelwood Police arrested a suspect for stealing at The Children's Place at St. Louis Mills. OCTOBER 14 VEHICLE THEFT: A car was stolen in the 7000 block of Howdershell Road. July Police Blotter: A Burglary Confession and An Intoxicated Mother Driving With Children in the Car

The usual take the list as we review some crimes that have plagued Hazelwood this past month.

JULY 24 STEALING: A room was broken into and a credit card and money were stolen in the 7100 block of Douglas Palmer. RUNAWAY: A juvenile in the 150 block of Anistasia rand away from home while mother was questioning him about having a friend in his room. JULY 23  ASSAULT: Five juveniles assaulted another juvenile at St. Louis Mills. The suspects fled the scene. DRUG POSSESSION: Police found drugs inside of a car during a traffic stop in the 7400 block of North Highway 67. VEHICLE THEFT: A vehicle with the keys in the ignition was stolen in the 600 block of Lambert Point. It later was recovered in the 500 block of Fee Fee Road. This police blotter reflects incidents the Hazelwood Police Department responded to from May 17 - June 26. It includes crimes including theft, home invasions, drug arrests and more.

JUNE 26 PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: A woman was taken into protective custody after she was found drunk and laying on the ground in White Birch Park. PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: Police arrested a man for driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance in the 400 block of Elm Grove Lane. He had backed into a police officer. JUNE 25 STEALING: A business reported a man drove off without paying for $53 in gasoline in the 6000 block of Howdershell Road. DRUG PARAPHERNALIA: Police arrested a suspect for possession of marijuana paraphernalia during a traffic stop in the 400 block of Lynn Haven Lane. Below is a list of crimes that occurred in Hazelwood from mid-April to mid-May. Crimes range from theft and drug possession to a male being arrested for abusing his grandmother, according to police.

Petty theft crimes and drug possession appear to be the biggest criminal presence in Hazelwood during this time period. People stole from department stores, gas stations, pharmacies, their siblings and much more. MAY 16 THEFT: The Hazelwood Police Department responded to a call of theft at St. Louis Mills Mall. Turned out the theft was internal. MAY 15 THEFT: HPD responded to a call of theft in the 1900 block of Missouri Bottom Road. Cartons of cigarettes were reported stolen. MAY 14 SUDDEN DEATH: HPD responded to a call of a death in the  700 block of Hazelvalley Road. An 88-year-old male passed away of natural causes, according to police. Hazelwood Man Assaulted In His Home

Police respond to a call in the 200 block of Sadonia Tuesday night of a man assaulted by a group with a gun.

A Hazelwood man is coping with being the victim of an assault at his home on May 23. According to a Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) press release, at approximately  9:18 p.m., HPD officers responded to a call of an assault in progress  in the 200 block of Sadonia. Upon arrival, the officers contacted the victim who said that five black male subjects entered his residence and assaulted him, according to the release. It also states that the victim said that at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects stole items from within the residence then fled the area in a light colored sports utility vehicle, according to the release. The victim was treated at an area hospital for his injuries and was later released, according…
