Mayors' Shamrock Ball Brings in $35,000 for Valley Industries

The event benefits Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop, which employs 200 workers with developmental disabilities in the North St Louis County.

It appears the North County community has once again stood behind a local cause. Preliminary estimates reveal the 6th Annual Mayors’ Shamrock Ball will be bringing in about $35,000 to benefit Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop. Tim Davidson, City of Hazelwood spokesman said that is an $8,000 increase over 2012's event. Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop employs 200 workers with developmental disabilities in the North St Louis County. There were 468 tickets sold for the event, which was held on March 2. That is an increase of 70 over last year’s totals, Davidson said. Local Support Davidson said the biggest impact came from an overwhelming response from the North County business community. City of Hazelwood, Valley Industries Place at 2012 Valley of Flowers

Several parade units and contest winners were announced Sunday. A number of awards were handed out for everything from cutest baby to best parade float.

While several turned out for the crowning of the 2012 Valley of Flowers Queen Sunday, others turned out to hear the award winners for several other contests.  The City of Hazelwood came in second place for "Best Organization." In the "Best Theme Unit – James J. Eagan Award" category, Valley Industries brought the third place title back to Hazelwood.
