Weird Crime: Chicken Rustler and a Serial Meat Thief

A round-up of odd and unusual crimes in the St. Louis area.

It's always good to know strange things happen in places other than where you live. Take a peek at a few of the stranger crimes that have occurred recently. Chicken Thief Grabs 75 Birds A man hired to watch over chickens at a farm on Old Highway 141 in Fenton, stole 75 of the birds instead, according to police. The theft occurred on Oct. 30 and followed a dispute between the property owner and the man who was to watch over the chickens, police said. Meat is His Undoing A University City man faces criminal charges after police said he tried to steal porterhouse steaks from a  grocery store. The man put two packages of porterhouse steaks down his pants. He recently had been released from jail after serving a one-year sentence for stealing …

Hazelwood Man Surrenders After Standoff with Police, Accused of Firing Assault Rifle at Ex-Girlfriend

A Hazelwood Police Department officer was investigating an unrelated call and heard a single gunshot nearby Sunday afternoon.

A Hazelwood man is in custody following a standoff with the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) on Sunday. Rashidi Greer, 21, was arrested and charged with domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a domestic shooting, according to HPD. Police say an officer was investigating an unrelated call near the 8400 block of Latty Avenue when he heard a single gunshot ring out around 12:15 p.m. At the same time, a woman called the police saying Greer, her former boyfriend, fired an assault rifle at her during a domestic disturbance. Police say Greer then ran into his residence and officers set up a perimeter around the home. HPD made cell phone contact with Greer, …

Man Exposes Himself, Tries to Sodomize Stranger, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said the sexual abuse occurred last May in North County. When he tried to force a woman he didn't know to touch his genital area.

A North County man faces sex crime charges after police said he tried to sodomize a woman last May. Cline, 23, of the 1600 block of Emerald Creek Court off Shackelford Road in unincorporated North County, was charged Thursday with attempted forcible sodomy, sexual abuse and second-degree sexual misconduct. St. Louis County Police said Cline twice exposed his genitals to a woman, a stranger to him. On May 11, he also grabbed the same woman by the buttocks and breast and tried to force her to touch his penis. Cline is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail has been set at $100,000. Woman Trafficked ID Theft Information and Hid It In Her Vaginal Area, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said when she was arrested, a woman was hiding names, birth dates and social security numbers of seven people from an adult day center in a very womanly area.

A North County woman was discovered concealing stolen information that would have been used to steal identities of seven people, St. Louis County Police said. Apryl Rene Washington, 30, of the 1400 block of Monopoly Drive in unincorporated North County, was charged Oct. 30 with trafficking in stolen identities. St. Louis County Police said Washington was arrested at 6:30 p.m. May 22 in the 1100 block of Benham Road on an outstanding warrant from the city of St. Louis. A female officer discovered she concealed a wallet in her vaginal area. A piece of paper inside the wallet contained seven names, with dates of birth and social security numbers of the people. Police: Hazelwood Man Crashes Truck into House, Flees the Scene

The man drove a truck into a home near Plum Tree and Spring Forest lanes in May, causing $4,000 in damages, according to HPD.

A Hazelwood man faces criminal charges for fleeing the scene after he crashed his truck into a home May 12 near the intersection of Plum Tree and Spring Forest lanes. Trevor J. Quinlisk, 22, of the 12600 block of Missouri Bottom Road in Hazelwood, was charged Friday with leaving the scene of an accident, a class D felony. Hazelwood Police said that Quinlisk was driving on Plum Tree Lane in Hazelwood and left the roadway, striking a house and causing more than $4,000 in damages. He drove away without leaving information, but was identified by witnesses, police said. Quinlisk posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond and was released from St. Louis County jail.
