Cardinals Pitcher Kyle McClellan: See You in 2013

The Hazelwood West alum had surgery on Tuesday and will be on the disabled list for the rest of the baseball season.

After an injury led graduate Kyle McClellan to hit the bench in a game in May, everyone wondered whether the Cardinals pitcher and would get back on the mound by August, as he’d hoped. McClellan, a Hazelwood West graduate and former Florissant resident, had been on the disabled list with a strained right elbow. Then, during a July 3 throwing session, he aggravated a previous injury, CBS reported. But 28-year-old McClellan had surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn labrum, and it looks like he’ll be out for the remainder of the season.  CBS’s Fantasy Analysis said McClellan never felt right during spring training, and that he will start working toward his 2013 campaign instead. Kyle McClellan Among Six Honorees Being Inducted into the Hazelwood West High School Hall of Fame

Honorees will be recognized at a luncheon Saturday, followed by the induction and presentation ceremony during half-time of the Hazelwood West vs. Hazelwood East High School football game.

Yes, even the greats of high school have a special place to retire, and tonight, Hazelwood West High School will induct six honorees at its inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony. Honorees include 1977 graduate Al Nipper, who was a baseball and basketball player. Retired head wrestling coach Dan Boudria will also be inducted, along with 2002 graduate and St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Kyle McClellan and head girls’ softball coach Marjorie Baiter. Morgan Burkhart, a 1990 graduate that played baseball, basketball and football is also being inducted, as well as 1996 graduate Trevor Gaylor, who played football, basketball, and track and field.
