NRA: Put Armed Officers in Every Hazelwood School
HSD has been dealing with small levels of threat this week in the wake of the shootings. The NRA wants armed officers in all American schools to help counter threatening situations.
Posting an armed officer in every Hazelwood school and in schools across the country is the goal of the National Rifle Association (NRA), the guns-rights lobby announced on Friday. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," said Wayne LaPierre, the organization's top lobbyist, at a Friday news conference, according to a Huffington Post report. The statement comes on the heels of the tragic school shooting in Newtown, CT, where 20 children and six adults were killed. NRA had remained silent until Wednesday, when it first announced its intention to offer "meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again." (Get instant news updates.
