A Hazelwood man, Jamon Spurlock, is charged with second-degree robbery in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced May 3.
A man was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty for the murder of a Bel-Ridge man in 2011. James B. Wilson, 21, pleaded guilty to killing Bryson M. Kelly, 23, in an apartment at 9050 Torchlamp in Bel-Ridge on Jan. 4, 2011. Circuit Court Judge Richard C. Bresnahan sentenced Wilson to 20 years in prison for each count of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Wilson also was charged to 15 years for each count of shooting a weapon at a home or from a vehicle and a second count of armed criminal action. All sentences will run concurrently. Police located the car used and found the men in a nearby apartment along with the stolen property and a handgun, according to a court document.
Two men are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint Friday in Hazelwood. Michael Davenport, 20, of the 4300 block of West Belle Avenue in St. Louis, and Bryan Knox, 18, of the 11500 bock of Rock Hampton Drive in Spanish Lake, were charged Friday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Hazelwood Police said the two men got out of a car near the intersection of Cortena Drive and Utz Lane in Hazelwood at about 12:03 a.m. Friday. The man told police Davenport walked up to him and pointed a handgun at him. Another man came up behind him and took his cell phone and wallet, the man said. Tyree Valdez and another person attempted to rob a person at North Hanley Drive and Santa Bella Drive, according to the Hazelwood Police Department.
A man is accused of holding a gun to a person’s head Saturday in the City of Hazelwood and demanding money. Tyree Valdez, 26, of the 2700 block of Mullanphy Lane in Florissant, was charged Monday with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action. The Hazelwood Police Department said Valdez, acting with another, put a gun to a person’s head and demanded money at 10:10 p.m. Saturday on North Hanley Road at Santa Bella Drive. Police said when Valdez was arrested he had the handgun. Valdez is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $100,000, cash only. (Get instant news updates. Two men have been charged for robbery, assault and armed criminal action of a man near the St. Louis Community College campus in late February.
Ferguson police have arrested two men in connection with a victim found shot near St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley last week. Police arrested Jeffrey Burnett, 20, of Florissant, and John Dailey, 20 of Black Jack, who robbed and shot a man near the Florissant Valley college campus, Ferguson Capt. Dan DeCarli said.
