A Nixon White House in 2016? Possible, Some Pundits Say

It's a bit early, but Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon's name is being bandied about as part of a Democratic ticket in 2016.

As Gov. Jay Nixon and Sen. Claire McCaskill led a blue resurgence in a red state in 2012, some started mixing mentions of the Missouri governor with the year 2016. Nixon were to run for president in 2016, he would use the Bill Clinton model from 1992 and run as a centrist or moderate,” said David Kimball, professor of political science at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Others …

Clint Zweifel Re-elected as Missouri State Treasurer

Democratic incumbent Clint Zweifel gave his acceptance speech just before midnight Tuesday, after a night of number watching in a close race with Republican challenger Cole McNary.

Democratic incumbent Clint Zweifel and Republican challenger Rep. Cole McNary faced off in the Nov. 6 election for the position of Missouri State Treasurer.  As results came in Tuesday night, both candidates gathered with friends and family at St. Louis area watch parties. Initially, it was a tight race, but ultimately Zweifel declared victory and thanked his supporters just before midnight. "I think a lot of this illustrates hard work and investment in each other," Zweifel said. With 100 percent of the precincts counted early Wednesday morning, Zweifel had 50.3 percent of the vote and McNary had 45.5 percent of the vote. Zweifel tells Patch McNary did call him and concede Tuesday night. Both parties tell Patch they knew it would be a …

Hazelwood Election 2012

Video: Senate Candidates Debate Minimum Wage But None Know the Correct Amount

Do Todd Akin, John Brunner or Sarah Steelman know Missouri's minimum wage? It appears they do not, according to this video from a Friday debate.

In this video of a debate Friday KMOX's Charlie Brennan hosted, all three of Missouri's Republican U.S. Senate candidates insist Missouri's minimum wage is too high, but were unable to state the amount of Missouri's minimum wage. Watch as Akin and Brunner admit to not knowing the minimum wage, while Sarah Steelman makes an incorrect guess. The minimum wage in the state of Missouri is currently $7.25. Working City of Hazelwood residents, can a candidate be for the people if they aren't in touch with issues like the minimum wage amount?

Hazelwood Election 2011

Assessor Candidates Voice Concerns, Plans in Public Forum

L.K. Wood and Jake Zimmerman both stressed the need to revamp the property assessment system.

Two candidates running for St. Louis County Assessor — one with more than 30 years of real estate experience and the other with a political and legislative background — both promised they would get property assessments right the first time. Republican candidate and long-time realtor L. K. “Chip” Wood faced Democratic candidate and current Missouri State Rep. Jake Zimmerman (83rd Dist.) Saturday in a candidate forum, co-sponsored by the Lemay and Affton chambers of commerce at Bayless High School. Each candidate had 15 minutes to explain how they would straighten out what both said was a broken assessment system and then answered questions from an audience of about 75 St. Louis County residents. The St. Louis County Department of Revenue’s …
