UPDATE: 12 Hazelwood Businesses Nominated for Patch Readers' Choice

Let's help our local businesses, services and nonprofits by nominating them for the Patch Readers' Choice best of St. Louis categories. Nominations close July 9.

Patch readers have the chance to spotlight favorite services, restaurants, businesses, activities and entities through the Patch Readers' Choice contest launched Monday. A total of 25 "best of" contest categories give many Hazelwood entities the opportunity to be nominated. So far 15 businesses have been nominated. See the chart below for the list of businesses. My personal assessment indicated the following from a local standpoint, unless I missed someone or something intended to be associated with Hazelwood. We can probably do better, right…

Dining Debate: Who Has the Best Gluten-Free Options?

From seafood to pizza, nominate the best options for gluten-free dining in your neighborhood.

Welcome to "Dining Debate," a column aimed at sharing the best foodie finds in our area: Florissant, Hazelwood and Maryland Heights. This weekly feature invites you to nominate and vote on your favorite places for a variety of eats and treats. How does it work? Every Monday, we will ask you to tell us your favorite place for a certain edible item. This week we're looking for gluten free options. It can be difficult to find gluten-free dishes when dining out. This form of diet is the only medically accepted treatment for celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine. Still, the term gluten-free is often used to indicate what is considered to be a harmless level of gluten, rather than a complete absence of it, so Patch wants …
