Judge Dismisses the Majority of Coldwater Creek Cancer Claims

A federal judge has dismissed all but one claim in lawsuits filed against Mallinckrodt, in which 29 people believe radioactive contamination in Coldwater Creek caused their cancers.

Those fighting a faceless battle my feel a bit of defeat after U.S. District Court judge Audrey Fleissig on Wednesday, dismissed all but one claim in lawsuits filed against Mallinckrodt (now Covidien, which is based in the City of Hazelwood) regarding Coldwater Creek's radioactive contamination and its link to their cancers and other illnesses. Twenty-nine individuals were involved in the lawsuit, but thousands more believe the correlation like Mary Christine Moore who commented on Patch about the situation. "Many of my 1968 graduating class are dead (of) cancer," said Moore whose family lived on Stoneham Drive in Berkeley. Moore said her mother died of ovarian cancer in 2006. Gina and John Loudon, Former Area State Senator/Talk Show Host Couple On ABC's 'Wife Swap'

Former State Sen. John Loudon and his wife Gina are apparently set to be featured in the ABC network reality show next week. Loudon used to represent the City of Hazelwood.

Politicos around Missouri are buzzing with word that a former Missouri state senator and his wife, a former area radio talk show host, will be featured in the ABC reality TV show "Wife Swap" next with a polyamorous plot twist. According to the network: Political pundit and Tea Party activist Gina Loudon trades lives with a mom in a polyamorous relationship, on "Wife Swap," THURSDAY, MARCH 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. And in a first for the series, one of the families breaks the rules and refuses to reunite at the round table to discuss their experiences, leaving only one family to discuss things among themselves. Report: Coldwater Creek Not Linked to North St. Louis County Cancers

The state health department has been studying the incidence and death rates of cancer in North County zip codes adjacent to the creek. They say increased risk of cancer from nuclear contamination is unlikely.

Cancer incidents in North St. Louis County are not linked to Coldwater Creek. That's what a report the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services released today says. State Health Department Investigation Last month, Patch told you the state would be analyzing cancer clusters in North County as the result of local concern of increased risk due to nuclear contamination. Gena Terlizzi with DHSS's Office of Public Information said local residents asked the department to look at instances. She also said the report only looks at Coldwater Creek and not any of the several dump sites that were in the area. The State epidemiologists studied the incidence and death rates of 27 types of cancer in five zip codes adjacent to the creek including…
