Prepare for MoDOT to close lanes on Poplar Street Bridge for inspection. Here are the Missouri Department of Transportation's STL work zone reports through February 20.
Missouri Department of Transportation will close one lane in each direction on the Poplar Street Bridge starting Monday for bridge inspection. The lanes on the bridge will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. Crews will use a snooper truck to look at the bridge’s foundation and supporting steel. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for February 7-13.
On Saturday, the following ramps will be closed for Mardi Gras from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Beginning Feb. 11, crews working on the new I-64 Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge will have once a day closures of I-64 for rock blasting adjacent to the eastbound lanes of I-64 at the St Charles County end of the bridge. I-64 traffic will be slowed and potentially stopped for up to 10 minutes at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. weekdays for approximately one month. At the time of the blast, local law enforcement vehicles and construction vehicles will slow I-64 traffic. Eastbound traffic will be slowed starting at the Route 94 interchange. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on its St. Louis work zones for Jan. 31 to Feb. 6.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will close all lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 in both directions downtown between Hampton Avenue and Forest Park Parkway at 8 p.m. Friday. Motorists attending this weekend’s downtown festivities are urged to use I-44, I-70 or I-55. While the interstate is closed, crews will remove the Taylor and Newstead bridges over I-64. The ramps from McCausland/Skinker, Hampton Avenue and Kingshighway Boulevard to eastbound I-64 will be closed during this time. In addition, the ramps from Pine Street, Jefferson Avenue, Market Avenue and Grant Road to westbound I-64 will be closed during this time. The removal of two bridges over Interstate 64 is pushed back another week.
Looking forward to the upcoming work week Hazelwood? The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has delayed a planned weekend closure of Interstate 64 downtown until Feb. 1. The department will now close all lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 in both directions downtown between Hampton and Forest Park Parkway at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The projects cost nearly $211 million and will include road and lane closures around the St. Louis area that begin next week.
The Missouri Department of Transportaion has a busy year planned for road construction in the St. Louis area. MoDOT officials have unveiled detailed plans for five major projects around the St. Louis area in 2013 that total nearly $211 million. "So it's a significant amount of money we're about to spend on roads around the state, around the region," Ed Hassinger, MoDOT District Engineer for the St. Louis region, said. The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the Taylor and Newstead bridges over Interstate 64 starting after morning rush period Monday January 21. MoDOT reports on the St. Louis work zones through January 9.
MoDOT is beginning work on the Interstate 64/ Tower Grove Interchange project later this month. This 18-month project, done in partnership with BJC Healthcare and Washington University Medical Center, is intended to improve traffic flow around Kingshighway and the east side of the medical campus. Crews spent time responding to wintry weather last week and are now preparing for 2013 work zones, such as construction of the I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge and the Tower Grove interchange project, on I-64 downtown. Thursday, MoDOT is hosting a 10 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the new $110 million I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge over the Missouri River. The bridge will be complete in 2014.
