Spartans Muscle Way To Amertime Tourney Title Over Hazelwood Central

De Smet Jesuit's Jimmy Barton led all scorers with 25 points.

The De Smet Jesuit Spartans, buoyed by a decided rebounding advantage on both ends of the court, defeated Hazelwood Central Friday in the championship game of the Ameritime Classic held at Missouri Baptist University. Spartan senior guard Jimmy Barton led all scorers with 25 points. Senior forward Marcus Hinton led the Hawks with 14. De Smet Jesuit switched to a zone defense early on and took advantage on the interior, with Nolan Berry swatting 4 first half shots and John Barron collecting 6 early points off the bench while also rebounding on both ends of the court. Sissom Joins MoBap's Athletics Department

Along with another area coach, Scott Sissom will help lead the Missouri Baptist University cross-country and track and field programs.

Hazelwood resident Scott Sissom signed on to help lead the Missouri Baptist University men’s cross-country and track and field programs for the 2012-2013 season, the university announced Wednesday. With 12 years of coaching experience under his belt, Sissom was formerly the head track and field coach at both Hazelwood East High School in the Hazelwood School District and at McCluer North in the Ferguson-Florissant District. During his time as a high school coach, Sissom led two teams to Missouri State Championships. Sissom was himself a multi-sport athlete in high school, where he competed in track and field, football and wrestling.
