Hazelwood West High School Marching Band Marches in Inauguration Parade

This is the second time the band has participated in the parade.

The Hazelwood West High School (WHS) Marching Wildcats marched in the Inauguration Parade in Jefferson City on Monday at the invitation of State Treasurer Clint Zwiefel. (Get instant news updates. Like Hazelwood Patch on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.) Aaron Jackson, band director, elected officials are allowed to invite a band to participate. Zwiefel is a Hazelwood West High School alumn. “The students and I are very excited to have the honor of participating in the Inauguration Parade,” Jackson said. “It’s something that we all take a lot of pride in." Hazelwood West Marching Wildcats Alamo Bowl Bound

Sixty-nine band members to perform at half-time at big game.

Sixty-nine members of the Hazelwood West High Marching Wildcats left their families on Christmas day dedicated to one cause: they are on their way to the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. On Dec. 29, proud Hazelwood families can tune into ESPN to watch the big game, which will feature teams from the Big 12 and Pacific 10 Conferences.  The Marching Wildcats will be featured performers during the game's half-time show along with other participating bands. "We were invited through Bowl America to participate," said Gretchen Bangert, Executive Director of the Marching Wildcats Booster Organization.  "We participated in the Gator Bowl back in 2008. Flea Market Raises Funds for Hazelwood West High School’s Marching Wildcats

Band will be traveling to the Alamo Bowl Christmas day to compete with other bands during half-time.

The Hazelwood West High Marching Wildcats are determined to raise enough funds to compete in the Alamo Bowl, and last month, the band held a flea market at McNair Elementary to do so. Kelly Eagan, a parent helper for marching band and co-chair of the flea market, praised the dedicated teens who worked hard to help organize the event. She was very proud of the students, expressing admiration for their hard work which paid off.  "The kids worked so hard," she said. "They were busy helping from start to finish. They helped customers carry purchased items out to their cars, and they stayed to clean up after the event was over."
