Bomb Threat Puts Hazelwood West High on Lockdown Briefly
The school was on lockdown for 17 minutes before it was determined to be safe and clear.
Hazelwood West High School was on lockdown late this afternoon after a bomb threat was found on the wall in the boys’ bathroom. Dennis Newell, Hazelwood West's principal, said the building was on lockdown for about 17 minutes. "We immediately followed procedures related to these types of issues before determining that the building and grounds were clear," he said in an email blast to parents today. "All students and staff are safe." Upon clearing the building, all after school activities resumed. Newell urged parents to take an active role in expressing the seriousness of threats and pranks. I know a few people currently at West and they were there during the lockdown. They were told they couldn't use their phones. What's up with that?   more ›
