This Hazelwood School District Board of Education candidate has been a board member for nine years and said she feels the current board should remain intact to keep progress occurring within the district.
At the Hazelwood School District's (HSD) Meet the Candidates forum held in February as an effort to get district voters some time with the board of education candidates, Desiree Whitlock was her normal self. Always prepared and ready for what she wants to accomplish, she sat down between a longtime friend and a new face to explain why she should remain on the board of education. At the Hazelwood School District's (HSD) Meet the Candidates forum held in February as an effort to get district voters some time with the board of education candidates, a new face appeared. It was that of Keith Boykin Sr. With a smile and lighthearted attitude, he sat down between two incumbents ready to show who he was and why he was running for a seat on the board of education. Always one to speak with residents and to crack jokes with fellow board members, he sat down between an incumbent he considers his sister, and a new face aiming to replace someone, ready to show why he needs to remain on the board of education. The "Meet the Candidates" forum was intended for school district voters, but with little voter turnout, enabled the candidates to see what each is about.
Hazelwood School District (HSD) parents interested in getting to know the candidates running for the open seats on the HSD Board of Education had the opportunity to do so Thursday night during a question/answer format. Unfortunately during HSD's annual "Meet the Candidates" forum, only about 25 people were in attendance including the event sponsor, the Hazelwood PTA Council; and the event moderator, the League of Women Voters St. Louis.
