The solar-powered airplane is attempting coast-to-coast crossing of the U.S. Would you board a solar powered airplane for travel?
Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is the final airport chosen for a stopover during the upcoming cross country flight of the Solar Impulse, the first aircraft capable of flying 24 hours day and night using solar energy as power. The Solar Impulse Across America flight began in San Francisco’s Moffett Field. Lambert will be the Midwest US stop with a tentative arrival around the end of May, according to a press release. The flight plan also includes stops at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington DC-Dulles and New York’s JFK. Solar Impulse said not one drop of fuel will be used along the way. Round 1 of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport’s new retail shops are now open. Six Hudson Group stores have opened at the airport. In August, joint venture HG-St. Louis JV, which consists of Hudson Group, won the airport’s retail concessions contract, according to the airport's website.. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport officials said William Cox threatened to shoot co-workers at Jet Stream ground services, a subcontractor for Delta Airlines.
A ground services worker at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport pleaded guilty Friday to making a terrorist threat against co-workers. William Cox, 41, of the 1500 block of Wallis Avenue in Overland, threatened "a mass shooting" of co-workers at JetStream Ground Services during his lunch break March 27 at the airport. Cox worked for JetStream ground services, a Delta Airlines subcontractor. Several other Jet Stream employees heard Cox make the threat in a break room, according to a court document. Lambert-St. Louis Airport spokesman Jeff Lee said the threat was reported to the St. Louis Airport Police Department, who “responded appropriately.” Cox also pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft March 19, 2011 in St. Ann in an …

The Lambert-St. Louis International Airport traveler broke through a security gate Dec. 30 to raid the Pasta House bar, but left clothing and his cell phone behind.
A man who broke into a closed Pasta House restaurant and bar at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport to drink pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree burglary and second-degree property damage. Airport Police said David LaPrade, 24, of Southampton, MA, broke through a security gate to get into the restaurant and left his alcohol-soaked underwear and T-shirt and a cell phone behind the restaurant’s bar. Airport Police Chief Paul Mason told Patch that LaPrade drank alcohol while inside the restaurant and “spilled quite a bit of it.” “This is all caught on videotape,” Mason said. “He took off his clothes, dressed again and exited the area.” A sentencing hearing was set for May 24. The meetings are an effort to inform the public on the proceedings, and to let those who feel living, playing or working near the creek negatively impacted their helath have options. Three lawsuits allege exposure to radioactive waste the Mallinckrodt chemical company produced is the reason for the health issues. One lawsuit filed in April 2012 includes a group of 16 people from Hazelwood, Florissant, Spanish Lake and St. Ann. According to the lawsuit, nuclear waste was dumped near Lambert Saint Louis International Airport and contaminated Coldwater Creek starting in the 1940s through the 1950s. The area is considered an Environmental Protection Agency Superfund site. Documents express the residents report contracting various breast, testicular, brain and pancreatic cancers, Crohn's disease and other autoimmune disorders. A man was arrested by Lambert-St. Louis International Airport security agents after he broke into a closed Pasta House restaurant, leaving his cell phone and alcohol-soaked underwear behind. David M. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and American Airlines, Inc. have reached a tentative agreement that will settle American’s financial and operational obligations at the Airport. American’s parent company, AMR Corporation, is currently dealing with Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and the agreement has to be fully approved. The City of St. Louis, which owns and operates the Airport, pursued a negotiated settlement, which includes modifying leases with American Airlines, to avoid a rejection of all existing agreements with the city.
