Could Kyle McClellan Be Headed Out of St. Louis?

The sports world is talking, and reports that the St. Louis Cardinals are shopping around the right-handed reliever. Orioles at the top of the list of prospects.

Last month Hazelwood Patch reported the St. Louis Cardinals avoided arbitration with home grown pitcher and Hazelwood West High School alum Kyle McClellan, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. Now it seems that the right-handed relief pitcher could possibly be calling another team home come the start of the season. The MLB Daily Dish is reporting the Baltimore Orioles are looking at McClellan, along with bringing back Koji Uehara from the Texas Rangers. McClellan began 2011 as a starter. He was moved back to the bullpen after the team acquired Edwin Jackson. McClellan's stats on ESPN show that he went 12-7 with a 4.19 ERA, had 76 strikeouts and 43 walks in 141.2 innings. Hazelwood West's McClellan Works Out a One Year Deal to Remain a Cardinal

Financial terms of the deal have not been released, but MLB.com reports it's worth around $2.5 million.

The Cardinals avoided arbitration with pitcher and Hazelwood West High School alum Kyle McClellan last week, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal. The next step would have been to exchange arbitration figures. The value of the contract was not disclosed, MLB.com is reporting that it is worth approximately $2.5 million. This is the 27-year-old's second time being eligible for arbitration. During last season in which he helped the Cardinals make it to the World Series, he pitched as both a starter and a reliever. Fatigue led to McClellan being on the bench during World Series play as manager Tony La Russa excluded him from the rosters. McClellan's stats on ESPN show that he went 12-7 with a 4.19 ERA, had 76 strikeouts and 43 walks in 141.2 …
