It's (Kind Of) The End Of The Filing Period As We Know It

Some candidates withdrew, while other incumbents will go unopposed.

Now that the filing period to sign up for state legislative races is over, things are beginning to be a little clearer about what’s to come during the impending election cycle. That means the voting decision will be come a little clearer for Hazelwood residents. Locally the main event will most likely be the 1st Congressional District race that features Reps. Russ Carnahan (D-St. Louis City) and Lacy Clay (D-St. Louis City). Barring a Missouri Supreme Court ruling that chucks the redistricted congressional map, both candidates remain on the ballot to run in the district that includes all of St. Louis City and a portion of St. Louis County. The battle between Clay and Carnahan is one notable primary set to occur during the 2012 election …

Area Still Hopeful, But State Rep Says Aerotropolis is "Dying A Slow Death"

State Senate to decide Monday on conference committee fate for economic development bill.

Members of the Missouri State Senate will be back at work Monday, with the clock ticking down on time left in the special session called by Governor Nixon. Lawmakers have until November 6 before the session expires, by statute. Monday afternoon, the State Senate will gavel into session to consider the fate of Missouri's Presidential primary. As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, once a House bill to move the primary to March stalled in the Senate, the state GOP decided to move to a caucus system to protect Missouri's number of delegates. Senators will also vote on whether to send economic development legislation, which includes the so-called "Aerotropolis" China Hub bill to a conference committee to resolve differences with the House …
