Brooke Maynard was sentenced to seven years in prison related to the drowning death of her infant son Roman Bell last December.
A 24-year-old woman that moved to Hazelwood from Florida last year plead guilty to reduced charges related to her infant son's death. Brooke Maynard was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and murder in the second-degree after her infant son died in the hotel room bathtub in which they were staying. Maynard pleaded guilty to reduced charges on April 18 of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Missouri Case.net. The woman told police she left her baby alone in a bathtub full of water in a hotel room in Hazelwood and forgot after becoming distracted.
A 24-year-old woman being held at the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) after her infant son died Monday was formally charged today. Brooke Maynard is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and murder in the second-degree. The baby, who was identified as Roman Bell, was staying with Maynard at the Extended Stay America Hotel at 6065 North Lindbergh Boulevard. Maynard is originally from Florida, and police said she has been staying there for the last three months. The mother told police she became distracted after she left the Hazelwood hotel bathroom for a short period of time.
A 24-year-old woman being held at the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) after her infant son died Monday afternoon. The woman said she left her baby alone in a bathtub full of water in a hotel room at about 2:30 p.m. today at the Extended Stay America Hotel at 6065 North Lindbergh Boulevard, HPD said in a statement. Police said the mother intended to bathe the baby and walked away leaving the baby in the bath tub with the water running. The mother told HPD she became distracted and left the bathroom for a short period of time. She said she realized what she had done, went back into the bathroom and found him not breathing in the tub full of water, according to HPD.
