Jared Fosdick and Devin Williams Commit to MIZZOU on National Signing Day

Both Hazelwood West High School baseball players, along with other student athletes from across the district signed their letters of intent to launch their college athletic careers.

Hazelwood West High School athletes Jared Fosdick and Devin Williams both signed letters of intent to play baseball at the University of Missouri on Wednesday. Jared, along with his cousin Brendan Fosdick, were a family powerhouse for the Wildcats last season, in which Hazelwood Patch featured the two in an article. Jared is a left-handed pitcher that can also get around a ball. Last season he had a .385 batting average. Williams has had a lot of buzz and scouts looking at him, as well. High School Sports Wrap: Hazelwood West Volleyball Remains Unbeaten in Conference Play

Hazelwood West volleyball is continuing its winning streak. The Wildcats seem to be on a hot streak that can't be cooled. The team (10-7, 5-0) remained unbeaten in conference play with a hard-fought 25-23, 25-15 win over Pattonville on Tuesday. Sara Gregor led the attack with 10 kills. Missy Long added five kills. Amanda Molinari had 10 assists. McCluer North (2-10, 2-2) broke a seven-match losing streak with a 25-21, 25-17 win over McCluer (8-7, 2-3) on Wednesday. The Comets have slowed somewhat after winning their first four matches. HSD Fundraising For Its Athletic Programs

The Hazelwood School District is partnering with the St. Louis Rams to raise funds for high school sports. Saturday, Oct. 1, is the last day to help out.

Feel the need to help out your school's athletic program? Well the Hazelwood School District (HSD) has a new initiative aimed at raising money for the district's high school athletic programs. HSD is teaming up wit the St. Louis Rams on a special ticket promotion. So how does it work? Anyone, this includeds parents and community members, can purchase tickets for the Oct. 30 St. Louis Rams vs. New Orleans Saints game for $45. The price includes a $10 food voucher, and approximately 500 tickets are available. The catch: it's cash only. Tickets can be bought at Hazelwood West, Central or East high schools. High School Sports Wrap: Wildcat Softball Remains Strong Winning 5 of the 7 Last Games

The Pattonville High School softball team has had its share of ups and downs this season. Unfortunately for the Pirates, there have been too many downs. "We just aren't playing consistently," coach Doug McGhee said. "There are games where we really look good. Then we'll look bad the next time." Still, the Pirates are capable of turning in a strong effort at any time. That gives McGhee and his players high hopes for the post season. "I think we can win our district if we're playing like we're capable of playing," he said. Pattonville will compete in the Class 4 District 6 Tournament at McCluer North next month along with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood West, Hazelwood East, McCluer, McCluer North and Riverview Gardens.
