Man Charged for Robbing, Hitting Person in Head With Bat

The victim needed staples to close a gash in his head from the attack, Hazelwood Police said.

Hazelwood Patch previously reported a man beating another man with a bat in December. That crime has now been linked to a Florissant man whom police say hit a robbery victim in the head twice with an aluminum baseball bat before taking his cell phone. Hazelwood Police said Aaron Lawson, 20, followed the man to his residence Dec. 3 in the 1600 block of Ville Cecelia Lane in Hazelwood and attacked him when he got out of his car. Man Arrested for Hazelwood Church Break-ins, Police Say

Hazelwood Police said the man burglarized St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and Hazelwood Baptist Church two times each.

A man broke into two Hazelwood churches two times each and stole items, police said. Nelson Thomas, 18, of the 600 block of Holiday Avenue, was charged Thursday with four counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of felony stealing, one count of misdemeanor stealing and first-degree property damage. Hazelwood Police said Thomas broke into St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 615 Dunn Road on Jan. 1 and stole five Hershey bars and soda. Man Brings Gun into St. Louis Outlet Mall, Police Say

Hazelwood Police said officers found the concealed firearm on the man during a theft investigation.

A 17-year-old St. Louis man faces a criminal charge after he carried a concealed handgun into a store at St. Louis Outlet Mall Friday, police said. Vernel Latchison, 17, of the 2500 block of Warren Street in North St. Louis, was charged Saturday with unlawful use of a weapon. Hazelwood Police said Latchison was stopped and patted down during a theft investigation at St. Louis Outlet Mall. During a second pat-down, officers found Latchison had a .25 cal Brescia handgun in his jacket pocket, police said. Latchison was being held Wednesday in St. Louis County jail. Hazelwood Man Steals Keys, Takes Neighbor's SUV, Police Say

The man entered the home, took the car keys and stole a 2003 Dodge Durango, Hazelwood Police said.

A man snuck into a neighbor’s home on Hazelcrest Drive Dec. 10 and then stole an SUV belonging to the neighbor, Hazelwood Police said. Shawon Jones, 18, of the 7500 block of Hazelcrest Drive in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary and stealing a vehicle. Hazelwood Police said Jones entered a neighbor’s home, also in the 7500 block of Hazelcrest and took the car keys while the owner was in the house. He then stole the neighbor’s 2003 Dodge Durango SUV, polic said. Jones was being held in St. Louis County jail on Friday. Bail was set at $60,000, cash only. One Dead in Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-270 in Hazelwood

Northbound I-270 was closed following a multi-vehicle accident at the McDonnell Boulevard exit.

One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 270 in Hazelwood right after 10 a.m. The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes near McDonnell Blvd exit. Three cars and one commercial tractor-trailer were involved in the collision. Hazelwood Police have not revealed much but say at least one person died in the crash. The department has sent out an advisory message to residents to avoid eastbound 270 at McDonnell Blvd due to the lane closures. Hazelwood Patch went to the scene and it appears the Hazelwood Fire Department, Robertson Fire Protection District, Hazelwood Police, and Missouri State highway Patrol all responded.

Man Assaulted Woman, Knocked Toddler into Wall, Police Say

Hazelwood Police said the man attacked the woman after kicking in her door; the two have a child together.

A man is accused of breaking into a Hazelwood home Thursday, attacking a woman and endangering a child during the assault. Michael Sean Jones, 23, of the 700 block of Beardsley in Ferguson, was charged Friday with first-degree burglary, third-degree domestic assault and endangering a child’s welfare. Hazelwood Police said Jones kicked in a door to a residence in the 200 block of Becker Drive in Hazelwood and began to beat a woman. North County Man Indicted on Statutory Sodomy Charge

Hazelwood Police said the 45-year-old man had sex with a 13-year-old girl.

A 45-year-old North County man was indicted on charges that he had sex with a 13-year-old girl from Hazelwood. Prosecutors said that Robin Thomas, of the 9700 block of Conquistador in unincorporated North County east of Dellwood, had sex with the underage girl on Aug. 25 to Aug. 26. Hazelwood Police found sexually related texts from Thomas to the girl, who was found at his home hiding under a pile of clothes. The girl told police at the time that she had sex with Thomas and that she loves him. Thomas is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $75,000, cash only. Man Chased Ex-Girlfriend With Box Cutter, Police Say

Hazelwood Police said the man was yelling that he would slash her throat.

A man chased his ex-girlfriend with a box cutter, screaming that he would slash her throat Tuesday outside apartments in the 7400 block of Olian Drive in Hazelwood. Hazelwood Police said Phillip Washington, 27, of St. Louis, confronted his former girlfriend outside the apartment building, hit her and then chased her with the box cutter. The woman ran inside her daughter’s apartment, and the daughter told him he could not come in. The man forced his way inside and began fighting with the woman’s daughter, according to a police report. Police arrived and arrested Washington. He had a box cutter when he was arrested, according to the report. Washington was charged Tuesday with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree burglary and armed …

Police: Hazelwood Man Crashes Truck into House, Flees the Scene

The man drove a truck into a home near Plum Tree and Spring Forest lanes in May, causing $4,000 in damages, according to HPD.

A Hazelwood man faces criminal charges for fleeing the scene after he crashed his truck into a home May 12 near the intersection of Plum Tree and Spring Forest lanes. Trevor J. Quinlisk, 22, of the 12600 block of Missouri Bottom Road in Hazelwood, was charged Friday with leaving the scene of an accident, a class D felony. Hazelwood Police said that Quinlisk was driving on Plum Tree Lane in Hazelwood and left the roadway, striking a house and causing more than $4,000 in damages. He drove away without leaving information, but was identified by witnesses, police said. Quinlisk posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond and was released from St. Louis County jail. One Man Dead, Five Others Injured in Two Wednesday Morning Accidents in Hazelwood

A motorcyclist was killed an an accident with an Impala near the intersection of Hazelwood and Latty Ave., and a Metro bus collided with a passenger vehicle, causing injuries to the driver and several passengers.

A 52-year-old man was killed around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of Hazelwood and Latty Avenues, according to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was driving a motorcycle. According to Hazelwood Police Sgt. Tim Burger, supervisor of the traffic management team and accident reconstruction, the victim had the right-of-way and collided with a Chevrolet Impala, which was going east on Latty. Apparently, the motorcyclist hit the right side of the Impala at or near a stop sign on Latty. As police arrived at the scene of the accident, the victim was found laying on the ground.
