Hazelwood's Community Enrichment Commission Looking for New Blood
The volunteer commission, which sponsors several projects in Hazelwood including the used book sale, the Blue Ribbon Home Award program and the Martin Luther King Jr. Program is looking for new members.
Serving on volunteer committees can be rewarding but also a significant time commitment. In today's technologically driven world, volunteering isn't always at the top of the to-do list. Steve Rahmberg, a member of the Hazelwood Community Enrichment Commission appeared before Hazelwood City Council at its June 6 meeting to speak about this and request it to recruit new members. "I care about Hazelwood, present and future," he said. "The commission is allowed to have 27 members but we never have. "Currently we have nine and my wife and I are the youngest members and we are in our '50s." Rahmberg explained the process of judging for the Blue Ribbon Home Awards is taxing. I'd be interested although it does sound like a serious time commitment and I'm not sure I can swing it with school and two jobs. I'd hate to be a member that doesn't do much.   more ›
