Elderly Woman Robbed at Gunpoint and Carjacked, Assailant Captured in North County

The suspect took the 63-year-old woman's purse ar River City Casino and then fled in her car. Police later spotted the vehicle, chased it into North County and arrested four juveniles.

A 63-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint Friday night at a parking garage at River City Casino at 777 River City Casino Dr. The woman told St. Louis County police that the suspect displayed a gun and took her purse and 2012 Hyundai Sonata. She and her 61-year-old friend were not injured.  Information on the vehicle was broadcast to surrounding police departments. Police later spotted the vehicle, chased it into unincorporated North County and arrested four juveniles, who were taken to the St. Louis County Juvenile Justice Center. The stolen items were recovered, but gun was not found at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate. (Get instant news updates. Lucky for Missouri? Changes to Federal Law Pave the Way for Online Lottery Sales

Missouri and 43 other states are considering how to proceed now that the government is looking at an old law in a new way.

It's a fantasy many of us have indulged in: Imaging what we would do if we were to strike it rich overnight with a big lottery win.  I'll own up to doing so. I've gone so far as to tell friends and co-workers I would not be one of those folks you read about who continue clocking in a work every day. Not me. If I won the lottery, I'd be traveling the world first class as soon as my lump sum check arrived. No annual payments for me! Problem is, I don't buy lottery tickets. As I purchase my groceries or fill up my tank at the gas station, I just don't think about it. The gift of gaming? So, what if a person could buy lottery tickets online? Would I be more likely to work these purchases into my routine if I could simply log on to a website …

Man Cashes in on Holiday Lottery Win

Store manager says the Hazelwood Midwest Petroleum station is lucky.

Lots of people hope to become wealthy beyond measure, and for a Maryland Heights man, one lottery ticket from a Hazelwood gas station helped him do just that. Network engineer Samuel Gardner, 53, bought the winning ticket at Midwest Petroleum on Missouri Bottom Road. He won "$200,000 A Year For Life," a $10 Missouri Lottery scratchers ticket.  "This is the second big win we've had," said Assistant Store Manager Tiffany Akers. "We've had some smaller ones to hit—we like to think that this is a pretty lucky store." Akers said a lot of people win $500 from scratchers at the store, as well as $1,000 from the "Pure Gold" scratcher. One of the store's regulars, Hazelwood resident Marie Fingers, 55,  won the $1 million top prize on a Missouri …
