Ferguson Twilight Run Coordinators Discuss Security on Facebook

With the run almost one month away, coordinators discuss how they're protecting the upcoming North County event.

While the country continues to process the bombing at the Boston Marathon earlier this week, one North County race has taken to social media to address security concerns. The Ferguson Twilight Run is scheduled for May 18, and Tuesday morning,  the race coordinators made a Facebook post regarding its security and hopes for those in Boston. Here is the message below:  At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been impacted by the tragedy at the Boston Marathon. As a community of runners, we band together to support and help ensure the safety and well-being of the runners and the families and friends who support them. North County Residents Prepare to Run Ferguson Twilight Run

The annual race will take place May 18.

With all of the comfort foods offered by the wintertime, the Ferguson Twilight Run wants to get people thinking and acting upon their health. The fourth annual Twilight Run will take place May 18, and a part of its mission is to get North County residents active and healthy. This year, the event adds a 10K run to its 5K and one-mile fun run for participants. Race director Dwayne James said that it was decided to add a different event to give people a challenge. He said that the planners are working with St. Louis County to develop a second route and get permission for road closures on race day.
