Man Leaves Accident on Blanchette Bridge, Racks Up Fourth DWI Charge in Two Years

Bart Laster has three previous alcohol-related driving convictions and faces three additional DWI charges.

A St. Charles man faces his fifth DWI charge within the last two years and his sixth alcohol-related driving charge overall. He was pulled over after leaving an accident scene at the Blanchette Bridge Wednesday, police said. Bart Laster, 40, of the 1000 block of Cole Boulevard in St. Charles, was charged Wednesday with driving while intoxicated as an aggravated offender and leaving the scene of an accident. I-70 Express Lanes to Remain Closed Through Mid-November

MoDOT reports on St. Louis Work zones through the beginning of November.

Hazelwood drivers heading to work on this Wednesday hump day should keep in mind some routes that may affect route plans. The Missouri Department of Transportation closed two lanes on westbound I-64 at the Poplar Street Bridge until 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. The I-70 express lanes into downtown remain closed until mid-November to let crews working on the Mississippi River Bridge take advantage of a maintenance closure to complete work on the bridge. The ramp from westbound I-70 to Madison is closed for 45 days so crews can reconstruct the ramp for the Missouri I-70 interchange. Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

MoDOT Closing Three Westbound I-70 Lanes this Weekend

In an effort to get work done to prepare for the closure of the Blanchette Bridge the first weekend of November, MoDOT crews will be shutting down three lanes starting at 8 p.m. on Friday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is making a final push toward the Nov. 2 closure of the westbound Blanchette Bridge in St. Charles.  Just a week after the eastbound lanes were closed, MoDOT crews will be doing significant work this weekend to on the westbound lanes. To prepare for the bridge closure, three lanes on westbound Interstate 70 at Earth City Expressway/Route 141 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct 26 until 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. Even with the closures, at least two westbound lanes will remain open to traffic throughout the weekend. In addition to the lane closures, the ramps at Earth City Expressway/Route 141 and westbound I-70 will also be shut down. The ramps will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 until 8 a.m…

Man Charged With Assault in 2010 Blanchette Bridge Accident

Police said the man's blood-alcohol content was .12 percent during the accident.

A St. Charles County man was charged Friday with causing a 2010 accident on the Blanchette Bridge while driving drunk. Anthony Hutchins, 28, of the 1300 block of Summergate Parkway in St. Charles County just south of St. Peters, was charged with second-degree assault, driving while intoxicated. St. Louis County Police said Hutchins was speeding at 4:50 a.m. Sept. 25, 2010 when he hit the back of the first victim’s car. The collision caused that car to spin out of control and hit two bridge walls. A third car then struck the second car. Drivers of both victims’ cars were injured. The second driver had bruises to the back of his head, while the third driver had a punctured lung, broken ribs and a chipped hip bone. Hutchins also was taken to …
