Consumer Alert: Bed, Bath & Beyond Receives Contaminated Tissue Box Covers

Health officials are warning that tissue boxes containing a radioactive substance have been issued to Bed, Bath and Beyond stores, including at least one in the St. Louis area.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) issued the warning Friday afternoon. It stated in a news release that metal tissue box covers delivered to Bed, Bath and Beyond retail stores throughout the U.S. may contain cobalt-60, a radioactive substance. It does not appear the covers were distributed to the St. Louis Mills location, but health officials confirm they were received by the Sunset Hills Bed, Bath and Beyond store. Customers who may have purchased the covers are advised to return them to the store for a refund. More information and a photo are available on the store's website.
