Conversation Pieces owner Casaundra Bronner's passion is creating tasty, edible works of art.

Not long after InBev bought St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, Hazelwood resident and single mom Casaundra Bronner found herself out of a job. As the company was being reorganized, Bronner’s position in the marketing department was eliminated. Bronner had worked at Anheuser-Busch for 11 years. Shortly before her position was eliminated, she decided to go back to school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Phoenix in 2007, and in May of 2011, she earned her master’s degree in management from Fontbonne University. During the time she was working toward her master’s degree, her mother suggested that since she was technically unemployed and “getting all these degrees,” she should use the knowledge she was gaining …

The from scratch bakery opened its doors in August of this year and sells out each week.

You can feel the love from Mizz Juju's Bake Shop the moment you step through the door. This down home bakery opened its doors August '10, and has been pleasing the palates of Hazelwood locals ever since. Owner Julia Tate runs the bakery with help from her husband, as well as her assistant, Kriska Gurley. Tate has been baking for as long as she can remember, and was inspired by her mother, Cozella Tabb. Tabb was a professional chef whose clients included Mississippi State University's president. Armed with recipes from her mother, Tate whips up a variety of sweets, ranging from chocolate chip cookies to sour cream bundt cake and just about everything in between.
