McNair Elementary School Raises $3,500 for the American Heart Association

Students participated by either registering for Jump Rope for Heart or signed-up to play basketball in the Hoops for the Heart program.

McNair Elementary School students in the Hazelwood School District (HSD) jumped to their heart's content for a good cause in February and raised $3,500 for heart disease. The students took part in the American Heart Association's (AHA) Jump Rope for Heart event. See Hazelwood Patch's slideshow here. In Jump Rope for Heart, students spend time in physical education classes learning about different jump rope tricks and how jumping rope helps cardiovascular health. Marvin Sapp Headlines Free Gospel Concert in North County

Sapp will headline the concert in collaboration with the American Heart and American Stroke associations, to raise awareness about the risk factors associated with a stroke.

The American Heart and American Stroke associations are bringing Pastor Marvin Sapp, popular American Gospel music singer-songwriter, to St. Louis on April 12 for an evening of inspiration at the Most Powerful Voices Concert and Health Fair. The free concert and health event will take place at Greater Grace Church located at 3690 Pershall Road in Ferguson. The purpose of the event is to educate the community about the risk factors associated with having a stroke. The health fair will begin at 4:30 p.m. and features health screenings, give-a-ways and CPR demos. McNair Elementary Students Jump Rope for Heart

The students took part in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart event to raise awareness about cardiovascular health.

McNair Elementary School students in the Hazelwood School District (HSD) jumped to their heart's content for a good cause recently. The students took part in the American Heart Association's (AHA) Jump Rope for Heart event. In Jump Rope for Heart, students spend time in physical education classes learning about different jump rope tricks and how jumping rope helps cardiovascular health. In 2011 HSD schools raised nearly $40,000 for the American Heart Association. In 2010, McNair finished third in the metropolitan area and 11th in Missouri with $6,200  raised that year as a school, during the event, according to physical education teacher Rob Iezzi.
