Volunteer and off-duty fire fighters in the St. Louis area are responsible for the museum's upkeep, with one volunteer fire fighter traveling all the way from Jefferson County to do his service. Eric Kiehl, one of three founders and an active fire fighter for the city of Hazelwood, said it was just natural to open an historic preserve. "There were three of us and we knew a lot of people and fire fighters with a lot of great stuff," he said. "We just thought it was our public duty to share it all."

The St. Louis Junior Football League was formed in 1960. It is made up of volunteers who offer children age 7More to 14 the opportunity to play organized tackle football. The league serves more than 3,000 young people in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The Hazelwood Police Department was established by city charter as a permanent police force, and exists for theMore purpose of providing police service for the City of Hazelwood.

The Chief of Police controls the department and reports to the city manager. The chief assigns any specialized positions including but not limited to detective, juvenile officer, captain and sergeant.

The police department is responsible for the suppression of crime, and upholding the governoring laws of the City of Hazelwood through protection of life and property, the preservation of peace and order, safe movement of traffic.
