Harvestfest is Saturday, View the Schedule

Hazelwood Patch is here to help to navigate this year's Hazelwood Harvestfest, which is Saturday at Howdershell Park.

Hazelwood's annual Harvestfest will take place this Saturday, Sept. 14, at Howdershell Park, located at 6800 Howdershell Rd. The festival will be a day full of fun for families and all ages starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

The City of Hazelwood will have parking available at White Birch Park with shuttle bus service going to and from Howdershell Park during the day.

Here is the schedule of events and activities you can expect at this years festival welcoming fall to Hazelwood.

9:30 a.m. Harvestfest Scavenger Hunt: This event will kickoff Harvestfest and the winner will walk away with a a $500 grand prize. There will be several other prizes to the top three finishers. This is an hour long scavenger hunt in the park. Winners will be announced during the Miss Hazelwood coronation at 10:30 a.m.

10 a.m. to Noon, Petting Zoo 

10:30 a.m. Horseshoe Tournaments

10:30 a.m. Miss Hazelwood Coronation: The reigning 2012 Miss Hazelwood, Kirsten Henderson, will be hosting this year’s coronation ceremony on the stage of the St. Louis County Bandwagon located near the tennis courts. A $500 scholarship and other prizes will be awarded to the new queen. To view the candidates, click here.

11 a.m. Home Run Derby: This is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12. 

Noon, Bingo

Noon to 2 p.m. Radio Disney: The city will forego its parade this year. Instead, the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division is partnering with Radio Disney. The station’s road crew will entertain and interact with children via dances, games and giveaways.

1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Pony Rides

1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Bubble Bus: This bus is a myriad of bubble machines that makes bubbles of all sizes, which will fill the park.  

1 p.m. to 5 p.m. NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition: This is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 15. The St. Louis Rams’ Street Team and Ram Page mascot will be on hand to greet the kids. 

1:30 p.m.  Horseshoe Tournaments 

2 p.m.  Bingo

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Live Band, Vote for Pedro: This band has been booked as the opening act for several major bands like Green Day, MatchBox 20, Foo Fighters, Firehouse and ZZ Top when they stop through St. Louis.

All Day Activities:

Children’s Activity Area: This section of the park will feature four large inflatables, and a children’s crafts area inside the tennis courts. 

Children's Pirate Ship: The Gypsy Rose III Landship is a place where children can come aboard, and imagine all the fun of being on the seven seas for lost treasure. This pirate ship is one of six built by 53-year-old Capt. Tim Woodson, a pirate river cruise operator, for land use. The ship has cannons that shoot big Nerf sponge balls and has ropes for kids to swing on.

Used Book Sale: The Community Enrichment Commission host its annual rummage sale under a big tent. This is one of the commission's largest fundraisers for it's yearly programs for city residents. 

Arts & Crafts Booths

Vendor Booths: An area will be set up for local companies to promote their products and services, as well as for non-profit organizations to raise money for their charitable causes with game or food booths. To purchase booth space call (314) 731-0980.

City Services Tent: The Hazelwood Parks and Recreation staff plans to give away cell phone chargers for the car, yo-yos, and sports bags to those who stop by the tent. Mini baseballs and footballs will be handed out during the derby and football competition.
