Volunteering your time is a great way to support the Hazelwood Patch community and give back to those around you. But finding a volunteer opportunity that matches your skills, schedule and passions can be a challenge.
That’s why the United Way developed an online quiz that matches applicants to agencies desperately in need of extra hands.
Before you take the quiz, take stock of what you’re looking for. So many organizations need extra help that you are sure to find something that matches your needs as well.
- Would you like to volunteer with young children? Are you more comfortable with young professionals in their 20s and 30s? Or would you rather work with peers and agencies?
- How much time can you spare? A few hours a week? A few days a month? Do you want a set schedule or would you rather be flexible?
- What is your focus? Helping kids in school? Serving as a leader or on a board? Deciding where donated funds should go?
- And what is your commitment level? Do you have lots of spare time and a passion for volunteering? Or do you already have a full plate with your work or family?
Once you know what you are looking for, take the United Way’s Volunteer Interests Quiz, and take an important step toward bettering your community.
Patch also has resources to connect volunteers with good causes. Just hover over "More Stuff" on the top bar and click "Volunteer."
