Hazelwood’s Summer BMX/Skate Competition Returns for a 7th Year

Sponsored in partnership with PlanNine Skate Park, athletes can perform in four categories during the competition on Friday starting at 6 p.m.

will host Friday at 6 p.m. Participants of various ages can enjoy the chance to show their skills at the Hazelwood Skate/BMX Park located behind the .

"Each year the competition gets more challenging as the number of participants increase," said Pam Reynolds, facility manager.  "It's amazing to watch them attempt to defy gravity with their extreme stunts off of our skate park ramps."

Reynolds said some of the past tournament winners have gone on to the professional ranks and currently do regional demonstrations for their sponsors.

  • Age 15 and Under Skateboard
  • Age 16 and Over Skateboard
  • Age 15 and Under BMX
  • Age 16 and Over BMX

Sing Me a Fiction provided the live soundtrack to the competition last year.

The top 3 finishers in each category were awarded with cash prizes.  There was also a raffle for a new BMX bike for those who purchased special tickets.

This year's event will also feature cash prizes for the top 3 finishers in each category. Other features include music, raffles and attendance prizes.

The entry fee is $7 per person. This is the seventh year for the event.
