West High Hires New Head Football Coach
Former University City High School head coach will take over the football program.
Just a little more than a two weeks after head football coach Cordez Vaughan regsigned. Hazelwood Patch sports writer confirms through Activities Director Tim Williams that West has hired a new football coach, Duane Hawthorne.
Hawthorne, a former University City head coach, and was the St. Louis Metro Coach of the Year in 2009-10.
He is a former NFL defensive back and was also part of the special teams. He played four seasons for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers. He now teaches health at West High.
