Kyle McClellan Headed to Texas Rangers with Minor League Deal

McClellan, a Hazelwood West alumn, was also invited to the team's major-league spring training.

The Texas Rangers have signed right-handed pitcher and Hazelwood West Alum, to a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training, the team announced Tuesday.

McClellan who grew up in North County in Hazelwood and Florissant has spent his career in the Cardinals organization after the team picked him in the 25th round of the 2002 amateur draft strait out of high school.

His five-year major-league career includes 17 starts, all made in 2011 World Series winning year when McClellan pitched a career-high 141 2/3 innings while winning 12 games.

McClellan pitched 18 2/3 innings in 2012, going on the disabled list May 18 and undergoing elbow and shoulder surgery July 10.

The Cardinals released McClellan in November of last year.
