Devin Williams Inks Deal with Brewers for $1.35M

The Wildcats pitcher will head to Phoenix, AZ to join other rookies in training.

Hazelwood West right-hand pitcher Devin Williams has officially signed on to be a Brewer.

The Wildcats player was a top draft pick, at No. 54, for the Milwaukee Brewers and has inked a deal worth $1.35 million, according to MLB.com. He also received a more than $1.02 million bonus.

Included in his signing package was compensation for forgoing his athletic scholarship to the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he had committed to playing during college.

Williams was 4-1 with a 0.70 ERA in six starts for the Hazelwood West Wildcats.

Williams indicated on his Twitter during the past week that he looked to be Milwaukee bound.

He tweeted a photo last week saying “Feeling Right At Home! #BrewCrew @ Miller Park”

But Sunday night he clearly indicated that he had signed the deal.

"Officially a @Brewers !! Heading out to AZ tomorrow! ⚾⚾"

Williams headed to Phoenix, AZ Monday to join others at the Brewers’ Rookie League Affiliate.

According to MLB.com, Williams was one of the last to sign his paperwork, and that makes all 11 draftees a part of the Brewers team.
