Whiz Kid: Hazelwood West High Students Take The Stock Market

Both Hazelwood West High and Hazelwood North Middle school students take second place in the Missouri Stock Market Game.

This week's Whiz Kids may be able to create your next stock portfolio. Not only did  they come in second in the Missouri Stock Market Game, they did so while competing against 750 Missouri teams.

  • Whiz Kid's Names: juniors Yesh Dagne, Ayat Sumren and Angeline Bangcale, Cory Brown and Jon DuBois; and senior Kierra Thompson 
  • Whiz Kid's School/Church/Community Center:
  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: The team came in second place out of 750 Missouri teams and they took second place at the regional level of the Missouri Stock Market Game.
  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Starting with $100,000 in virtual cash, students attempt to create the best-performing stock portfolio using live trading simulations during the game, which lasts for 10 weeks. Students must research and examine different stocks and decide whether to invest based on their findings.
