Incumbents Seek Re-election Hazelwood School District Board of Education

No newcomers file to run in the April municipal election when there are two board seats up for grabs.

As the April 2, 2013 municipal election quickly approaches, there won't be much of an election within the Hazelwood School District (HSD).

On that day residents will go to the polls to vote for candidates they wish to servedin various council, mayoral, fire district and other capacities; however, when it comes to the board of education, there will be no competition.

The Hazelwood School District has confirmed with Hazelwood Patch no residents have filed to challenge those currently in office.

That would mean the incumbent and current board president, Cheryl Latham, along with board member Karlton Thornton automatically serve another term.

"No one else has signed up," said Diana Gulotta, assistant superintendent for communications. "Therefore, because the number of candidates is equal to the number of open positions, HSD will not have to hold an election this April."

I think it would be great to get some younger parents on the board of education. Those with kids just entering school.
