HSD Safe Schools-Healthy Students Initiative Looking for Parent Involvement

Parents looking to make better choices in parenting can sign up for 'Guiding Good Choices.'

Parenting is not an easy job. It's a job that can grow more challenging as children age and face peer pressures.

But the ’s Safe Schools-Healthy Students Initiative may be able to help if the the above description fits your bill. 

The Hazelwood School District is hosting a research-based program for parents focused on preventing drug use and wanting to develop healthier relationships with their children.

'Guiding Good Choices' is an interactive program for parents of children in grades 4-8. An informational meeting is scheduled for October 3 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the HSD Learning Center, located at 15955 New Halls Ferry Road. Child care is provided for the meeting.

Unsure if 'Guiding Good Choices' is for you? Parents can expect to learn specific strategies to help children avoid drug use. Parents will also learn to set clear family guidelines on drugs, and learn and practice skills to strengthen family bonds. Parents will also learn to help children develop healthy behaviors.

Safe Schools-Healthy Students is a federally funded grant-based program that has been around in the district since 2008.
