HSD Helps Future Students, Parents Prepare for Kindergarten

The Hazelwood School District is hosting kindergarten information nights on Wednesday and March 27.

Prepare yourself. Your child is about to head off to school at the start of the 2013-14 school year. A lot of parents feel anxiety and mixed emotions about the new chapter in their children's lives.

A child's experience starting school is influenced by his preparation and his parents' feelings and attitude, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Almost every parent can admit she or he has had a tough time with the first day of school, and to help prepare, the Hazelwood School District (HSD) is hosting two final kindergarten information nights.

The events are informational meeting where parents learn more about full-day kindergarten in the Hazelwood School District. There are discussions on quite a few topics including curriculum, an overview of a school day, breakfast and lunch programs, transportation services and registering for school, according to the district.

Child care will be provided during the meetings for ages 3-11. Kindergarten information nights will occur from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
