Hazelwood Assistant Superintendent Selected for SOE Leadership Council
Dr. Darrell Strong will serve a three-year term.
The Maryville University School of Education National Leadership Council has selected Dr. Darrell Strong, assistant superintendent for learning for the Hazelwood School District, to fill a three-year term. The SOE Leadership Council consists of selected school superintendents, school leaders, community leaders, business leaders, SOE alumni, and faculty and leaders from Maryville University. The Council assists the school in fulfilling its mission through advising the school regarding academic activities, supporting the school in communicating with its various constituencies, and assisting with fund development efforts.
According to Dr. Sam Hausfather, dean of the school of education at Maryville, was selected based on his strong commitment to quality education for all students and to the importance of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and higher education partnerships.
Strong has more than 16 years of educational experience, having served the past year as an assistant superintendent for learning. He also served three years as the principal of Hazelwood Central High School and four years as the principal of Hazelwood Northwest Middle School.

He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lincoln University, a Master of Education Degree in curriculum and instruction and an Education Specialist Degree in urban leadership administration and policy studies from University of Missouri-Kansas City. Strong is a graduate of the Maryville doctoral program.
