The Harlem Wizards are coming to Hazelwood, thanks to the Hazelwood School District’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) scholarship and gifted education program’s fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. in the Hazelwood Central Field House.
The Harlem Wizards are an entertainment basketball team who will put on a show featuring basketball talent combine with hilarious comedy. The event will be refereed by interim superintendent Dr. Grayling Tobias, and a group of district staff members will take on the Wizards for a fun-filled afternoon of basketball that’s perfect for families.
“This is a very important fundraising event for the HSD scholarship program,” the district said in a press release. “Last year, the PTA Scholarship Foundation gave 100 graduating seniors $500 scholarships, totaling $50,000.”
The PTA’s goal is to raise enough money to help fund the scholarship program, and all proceeds will be divided equally between the scholarship fund and the gifted education program.
