Come cheer on seven Hazelwood School District students who are among 17 finalists in the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest sponsored by North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU).

Ninety-nine essays were submitted and a panel of six judges decided on the finalists. Student finalists will present their oratories before a panel of judges beginning at 1:30pm on Saturday, Dec. 11, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 13200 New Halls Ferry Road, Florissant, MO 63033.

Five winners will be chosen from the finalists. These five winners will present their oratories at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at 3pm in the Terry M. Fischer Theatre at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley on Jan. 16, 2011. The public is invited to the celebration. Each of the student winners will receive a $100 savings bond.
