Bringing a Bullet to School Could Mean Expulsion

The Hazelwood School District explains the punishment possible for the student that brought a bullet to school.

The identity of the student that brought a bullet to school is not being revealed; however, in the Hazelwood School District did discuss what his or her fate could be.

"We cannot legally share specifics (regarding the student's specific punishment), she said, "but I can give you a range of punishment for that offense, which is 10 days out of school suspension up to expulsion."

The student admitted to bringing a bullet to school on Tuesday. The bullet was found on a hallway floor at Hazelwood West Middle School (HWMS) on Monday.

School officials conducted locker searches with Hazelwood Police Department assistance.

HWMS principal Tony Brooks sent out an email to parents following the admittance reminding parents about what is appropriate for school premises.

I congratulate the Hazelwood School District and it's zero tolerance policy. Accountability and responsibility has to start at home.
