Brazilian Educators Travel to Examine HSD's STEM Program

Hazelwood School District welcomed visitors from Brazil involved in researching STEM programs for a new school system. They experienced Project Lead The Way engineering and biomedical classes and FIRST Robotics.

Who says education isn't worth traveling? It certainly was for a large group of Brazilian educators that traveled to North St. Louis County to get a look at operations in the (HSD).

HSD welcomed a delegation from Brazil involved in researching science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs for a new school system.

The delegation will develop a STEM curriculum for 400 schools in its home country. In HSD, it took a tour of Project Lead The Way engineering and biomedical classes including: Aerospace Engineering, Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Medical Intervention, Digital Electronics and Human Body Systems.

The delegation also experienced the FIRST Robotics program through student demonstrations.

The school visit was part of a tour or schools using National Instruments products. The delegation included teachers, researchers and professors from different educational institutions and corporations including Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Goias, Johnson & Johnson, and VALE Energy Solutions, according to the Hazelwood School District.
