Warren 'Butch' Taylor Marks 5 Years as a City Councilman

April marked an important month for Hazelwood City Councilman Warren Taylor.

He celebrated his five-year anniversary has a member of the council. He is Hazelwood's Ward 6 representative and goes by “Butch.”
Taylor was elected  to the council on April 8, 2008 and re-elect April 5, 2011.

Taylor previously told Hazelwood Patch he continued to be a public servant because he enjoys seeing continual progress in the City of Hazelwood.

“I enjoy my job and I think I’ve been a plus to the council,” he said.

Taylor says he is most proud of reinvigorating the city after Ford Mortor Company closed its assembly plant in 2006. It took some time, but the property has since been re-developed into Aviator Business Park, which recently announced its owner Panattoni is developing a $20 million facility for International Food Products. The company broke ground on the location at the end of March.

Taylor also worked with the parks suerpintendant to re-open Musick Park Sprayground last summer.

Taylor served on the City of Hazelwood's Parks and Recreation board for 22 years prior to being asked to serve on council, 12 of which he was chair of the board.

He said he originally ran to be on the city council because leadership at the time asked him to consider the role. the mayor at that time, along with several of the former council members, asked him to, he said.

He has been a Hazelwood Resident for 40 years with his wife, Linda. They have two children and three grandchildren.
