Mingle at the Mills Scheduled for Friday in Hazelwood

Events include Mayor's Cup Challenge, King of Wing Classic Car Cruise and more.

If you plan to mingle with a few people at Friday, you might as well stop by the fundraiser event.

The eighth annual Mingle at the Mills will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at St. Louis Mills in Hazelwood.

The Northwest Chamber of Commerce is partnering with to host this outdoor event featuring go-kart races, a chicken wing cook-off, a car cruise and live music.

A portion of the race entry fees, Mayor's Challenge Cup raffle, and event sales will benefit area charities, the Northwest Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce.

The participating municipalities include Bellfontaine Neighbors, Berkeley, Bridgeton, Charlack, Cool Valley, Dellwood, Edmundson, Ferguson, Florissant, the , Overland, Pasadena Hills, St. Ann, St. John, Village of Riverview, Vinita Park and Woodson Terrace.

Below is a description of the night's events:

 

Classic Car Cruise: This year's Mingle at the Mills event will have a Classic Car Cruise involving area car clubs. Commemorative dash plaques and goody bags will be given away to the first 50 custom or classic cars that show up to the event.

"King of Wings 500": The event is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The "King of Wings 500" is a chicken wing cook-off between several local restaurants. It's an all-you-can-eat affair, giving guests an opportunity to sample as many chicken wings as they like. Then each person can cast their vote for the "People's Choice" Best Wings award. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 each, or $12 at the door.

Charity Go-Kart Races: There is a $100 entry fee. There will be open races for individuals who wish to compete as a charity race driver. To qualify as a participant, he or she must be at least 47" tall. A field of 10 drivers will be posted for each race. There will be 50 percent of the entry fees going to the winner's charity of choice.

Challenge Cup Go-Kart Race: The entry fee is $10. Challenge your friends, family or colleagues to a go-kart race. Challenge Cup go-kart races will take place in between the Charity Go-Kart Races. A filed of 10 drivers will compete in the Challenge Cup races with the winners of each heat earning a spot in the Challenge Cup finals.

Mayor's Challenge Cup: Mayors and city officials representing 10 municipalities throughout North St. Louis County will be competing for bragging rights of being the best NASCAR race driver. The city that sells the most $1 raffle tickets will earn the pole position for the 20-lap race. The raffle grand prize is two round trip American Airline tickets.
