Last Day to File for Municipal April Elections

Tuesday is the last day for those wishing to run for mayor of the City of Hazelwood or a board director on the Hazelwood School District Board of Education to file.

Tuesday, Jan. 17 is the last day for filing for seats on the  Board of Education (HSD), and for the 's top spot: the mayor.

HSD board director seats for Mark Behlmann and Desiree Whitlock are up for grabs, while Mayor Matthew Robinson will have to also decide if he wants to re-run for the mayoral spot. Their current terms are up for vote in the April 3 election.

For those interested in filing for one of the board of education seats, they must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • At least 24 years old
  • A resident taxpayer of the school district
  • A resident of the state of Missouri for at least one year
  • File a declaration of candidacy

If you think you are mayor material, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Possible candidates must collect no less than 50 and no more than 100 registered voter's signatures of their petition.
  • Candidates must also be at least 21 years old, and a registered voter.
  • They must also have lived in the City of Hazelwood for at least two years immediately prior to the election.
