Hazelwood Looks to MoDOT to Help Beautify Lindbergh, Howdershell

The funds would come from the Missouri Department of Transportation's Surface Transportation Program, with a 20 percent match from the City of Hazelwood, and would only be for certain stretches of the roads.

The City of Hazelwood is going after two beautification grants to spiff up portions of Lindbergh Boulevard and Howdershell Road.

The Hazelwood City Council approved a resolution that allows for a 80-20 match grant application. The Missouri Department of Transportation's Surface Transportation Program–Suballocated would fund 80 percent of each project; and the city would fund the remaining 20 percent.

The grant for Lindbergh Boulevard entails installing trees and historic lights along corridor from Utz Lane to the southern city limits near Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. The application is for $1,094,992 with a 20 percent city match of $218,998, according to City Manager Edwin Carlstrom.
