The City of Hazelwood has decided to go with its existing broker to leverage and find competitive health insurance benefits for its employees.
Hazelwood City Council gave final approval to a bill last Wednesday which contracts the company the city has used for the past three years.
"You have had an agreement with Holmes Murphy & Associates for health insurance," said Edwin Carlstrom, Hazelwood City Manager at the January 2 council meeting. "We have used them for the last three years and they have done very, very well in searching out the best prices."
"I am recommending that we continue. There is an agreement that will start March 1, 2013 through Feb. 28, 2014," he said.
Holmes Murphy & Associates will be responsible for negotiating the most competitive health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance rates for Hazelwood employees, as well as the employee assistance program.
Hazelwood will compensate the brokerage firm at a cost not to exceed 1.75 percent of the agreed upon health insurance premium, and 10 percent of the vision insurance premium.
